Anyone have any remedies for right draw/left eye dominant shooters like me?
I'm using a TRUGLO (extreme) sight.  I cannot close my left eye, for whatever reason I've never been able to do that, even a patch over the eye doesn't seem to work . . . it lacks consistency.  There has to be a remedy!
I've just purchased another bow as well for left draw but the poundage had to be lowered to just over 50#s and I'm use to shooting mid 60#s so I'm going to lose speed and I'm not sure there's enough energy there for shots at 35 - 45 yards for whitetail.
Any thoughts??

I'm afraid I don't have any words of wisdom but I can relate a similar experience with a friend of mine.  He didn't get into bow hunting until college but the first time we were practicing, he was doing lousy.  Not just missing the target but missing the whole round bale it was on!  We went into town and borrowed a lefthanded bow (just to try it as he was right-handed) I was amazed when we got back to his place and he consistently stuck paper every time shooting southpaw!  In the many years since, he has tipped over a lot game with his bow.  It is possible!

I'm hoping I can do as well.
Perhaps the left draw is best and I'll have to take my time in raising the draw weight.  The older the dog the fewer tricks he can do and I only have so many tricks left.
Thanks for the reply.

I shoot right handed left eye dominant, but can close my left eye. If you can't close your left eye you don't have a lot of choice but to switch left handed. A 50Lb modern day compound will have more than enough KE to pass through a whitetail at those distances. A good sharp broadhead and shot placement are far more important that KE in those circumstances.

I think I have it worked out.  I can close the left eye and as long as I put the string on the draw directly at the tip of my nose for the anchor point every time, my accuracy has improved to even 40 yards.  It also helps to have a great sight provided by Cobra where increments are really adjustable and stable.
I'm ready to go.

Thanks again for the reply.

I guess I got in a little late on the advice...I am left eye dominant and ambidextrious. I shoot Right but in the beginning had lots of trouble adjusting my sight.

Only thing I can say...ANCHOR POINT is very important....My anchor was my knuckle in my ear, nose to string...and now...I wrap my thumb to the back of my neck to make sure Im lined up properly for each shot...oh yeah...PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE....

I agree the poundage mean zilch. I use muzzy 75 grain broadheads fixed blades...shoot a micro adrenaline, that I finally maxed out on....before that I shot a micro midas III...max was 40 lbs....I shot my first buck, with an great kill shot..he went about 50 yards and died. my poundage was at 35.

I am now at 50 with a max shot of 60 yards....I could go 70 but, I have no more room on my sight...hmmm....next year..new bow!! Illusion!!

In the beginning... you just will have to work at keeping the same pattern...hell sometimes, I have even shot with both eyes open...not a very good shot..but decent.

I hope this helps in someway...if not...I suggest using the patch for a while until you retrain your sight.  : )
