For those of you that did not get drawn for an out of state tage, AZ offers a over the counter archery deer tag. The tag is good for one calander year and one deer (coues or muley) and AZ offers three differnt seasons one in Jan (1st-31st) one in Aug(22nd -Sep 11th) and one in Dec (12th-31st). The Dec and Jan seasons are during the pre rut, rut and post rut and best of all the Jan hunt can be combined with a javelina tag to make for a great late season hunt.

I agree...January is the best time to hunt AZ...the hubby and his buddies have done that for the past three years...They get their javelina...and buy the deer when they get there.

They are usually pretty successful...I recommend it to anyone who lives in an area like mine where deer hunting is terrible.
